The United Communities of San Antonio (UCSA), has developed a rich history of service, through unique programming, with an emphasis on developing and empowering youth, educators, and community leaders.
In 1993, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the Youth Leadership Camp as a delegate. In subsequent High School and College years, I volunteered as a Camp Counselor and an Advisor. At Camp, the programming developed provided me with the awareness, education, and tools to navigate dynamics related to social justice. To date, that knowledge continues to be incorporated in my evolutionary path. Today, I am delighted to serve as the President/CEO.
The mission of UCSA is clear: a human relations organization, dedicated to creating safe and inclusive communities, while advocating for social justice, by promoting understanding and respect, among all people through awareness, education, and dialogue.
A friend shared with me that the UCSA mission was one of the most important and loftiest statements they had ever seen. I concur with that assessment.
Another friend shared that they believed UCSA was the best kept secret in the San Antonio region and beyond. I also concur with that opinion.
While the mission could be seen as unattainable, we all must believe in our hearts and minds that it can be accomplished.
How do you make the mission an objective with a strategic plan, in order for the goal to be successfully achieved? I believe it starts with each of us being living examples of the UCSA mission.
Together, as a community of diverse people, we have the ability to be collaborative champions for all.
On behalf of the Board of Directors we genuinely appreciate your consideration to become affiliated with UCSA, and hope you will become partners with us, united in the mission, vision, and goal of the organization.
Thank you in advance for your support of UCSA. Your community appreciates it!
